Artist's Comments

This is the first of a series of glamour-type photos taken to show off my curves and my pride/delight in them.

This is pretty heavily photoshopped, but only as far as lighting, levels and coloring -- no changes to my body or skin. I won't be doing that, because I don't believe that my body contains 'flaws' that need to be edited out; even more passionately, I believe that altering the form of a person in a photo is a horrible kind of dishonesty. I think it's a large part of the reason that people think of themselves as malformed or unattractive, because the media perpetuates the lie that there is an ideal form and that it is possible to adhere to that ideal. Want an example? Here ya go: [link] (because apparently even she isn't 'good enough') and another: [link] and here is a step-by-step example -- [link] These people spend most of their time working on their appearance, and even they can't measure up to the ridiculous 'ideal' that the media worships.

Great shot! I absolutely agree w/ you on the definition of "beauty" and how its been so misconstrued over the years... I grew up w/ a mom and an aunt who both were bulimic & anorexic. My aunt died from the complications it caused... So, I have a huge place in my heart for fighting this. I've struggled w/ self image a LOT and its debilitating. I've since over come most of my issues... but anyway, I like what this shot has to say & I think your curves are beautiful! Rock on sister. Those websites were crazy by the way. The first one looked like a PlayDough barbie doll. "mold me, mold me" AHHH

You irradiate beauty in all your pictures. It can be seen in your eyes that you love yourself as you are, and that's the most marvellous and important thing about beauty. The first of the pics I've seen in those websites you've given transmitted me a deep sadness: in the eyes of the model I found the sorrow of not considering herself as good as her retouched version. That's not in your pictures. You pose irradiating happiness about how you are (excuse my English, I often use some "easy" words that don't know if they really transmit what I want to say. Hope you catch the message).

Your pictures say "Hi! Here I am, the way you see me. I've got no problem about it. Have you?" ... and that is full of worth. I see you as great as a model as you are as a person. :)

You´re right - bodies should not been retouched/manipulated! Beautiful portrait, maybe a bit overexposed on Your left side...
Two years ago I had a girlfriend with a similar body and she liked it, too. We had a beautiful time because she did never moan about her body all the time...

:-( That's really painful, to grow up with such negative influences -- I admire you for being so brave and strong and rising above that. Keep resisting negative influences, revel in your beauty!

And thank you! :aww:
